A Brief Glimpse
Flamingos turn water into colour. From a distance they appear almost unreal — a pink haze gathered along the edge of a lake, shifting and brightening as the sun rises. Then the flock begins to move: heads dipping, legs stirring the shallows, wings opening to reveal flashes of deeper rose and black. Their sound is part murmur, part chorus, thousands of birds calling across mineral water and open sky. It is one of safari’s great soft spectacles — not predator and prey, not tension and chase, but abundance, rhythm, and light.
Fun Fact

Did you know?

Flamingos get their pink colour from pigments in the algae and tiny crustaceans they eat — the richer the diet, the brighter the bird.
