Overview

What we love about Onguma Tented Camp

Onguma Tented Camp in its own nature reserve, offers a deluxe safari base bordering Etosha, Namibia, where waterholes, dry riverbeds and open plains shape the movement of the wildlife through the day and night. Lion and cheetah are regularly encountered on the reserve where strict low vehicle density means you can dictate the pace of your encounters. Guests can also access Etosha through the sought after Von Lindequist Gate, the closest access point to the Etosha Pans which is minutes away. Black and white rhino, leopard, elephant, giraffe, and a wide variety of plains game roam freely alongside endemic species. The guides are well trained and many are descendants of the San people who have known this terrain for thousands of years. Onguma Tented camp is one of 6 Onguma owned camps in the nature reserve. Camp Kala is the more exclusive property, whilst the Tented Camp serves up comfortable accommodation with waterhole views and a romantic, intimate ambience and considered butler service.

Awards

What awards & Acclaims have they received?

Onguma Tented Camp is proudly family owned, shaped by its Etosha setting, considered hospitality and the way the stay keeps landscape, comfort and safari rhythm in careful balance. The Onguma portfolio of camps has achieved a number of accolades and recognition for their conservation efforts, responsible tourism, the properties themselves and their media efforts. It is a frequent nominee in Namibia's Leading Tented Safari camp.

Location

Etosha, Namibia

Onguma Tented Camp is one of six camps and two campsites in it's own 35,970 hectare Nature Reserve adjacent to Etosha, Namibia, within salt-pan and waterhole country with an elemental desert-edge rhythm. Guests can also access Etosha through the sought after Von Lindequist Gate, the closest access point to the Etosha Pans which is minutes away.

From the UK, travellers usually fly to Windhoek via a regional or European connection, then continue by road, charter flight or a fly-drive structure.

Distances in Namibia are long, so luxury trips often use flying to protect time and avoid compressing the experience.

Perfect for The Curator & The Rewilder

Onguma Tented Camp speaks first to The Curator travellers through design, setting, and service that sharpen the sense of place. The Rewilder adds a slower rhythm that lets the outside world loosen. Together, the fit is less about ticking off features and more about matching the lodge to the traveller's natural safari tempo.
